You may or may not be familiar with the term “inbound marketing,” but this technique has been taking the business world by storm. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got one small storefront or a large corporation — inbound marketing will benefit you.
What is inbound marketing? It actually consists of three parts:
It’s not enough to say “Come buy this” to prospective customers anymore. You need to draw them in with effective, customized content that will:
a. educate them about your product or service
b. provide other types of information they may find valuable or useful
This content can be delivered in many different forms, all online:
1. videos
2. downloadable white papers or brochures
3. infographics
But content creation is just one part of inbound marketing. There are two more elements…
Social media has become such a ubiquitous part of our daily lives and everyone has become a critic, for better or worse. You need to add your voice to the mix, and maintaining a vibrant social media presence is key. Use it to:
a. deliver created content
b. have conversations with customers and prospects
c. quickly resolve problems and complaints
d. develop a personality for your business
e. allow customers and prospects to get to know your employees in a friendly manner
The right platforms are also important. If you own a bakery, for example, you’ll want to have a Facebook page, a Twitter account and an Instagram site for fun dessert photos. Or if you run a recruitment firm, you’ll want Facebook, Twitter and a more professional LinkedIn presence.
Finally, there’s one more step…
Online advertising (such as Google Adwords) is less expensive and far more targeted than traditional print or television. You can set a budget for your ads, determine when and where they will be shown, and monitor the results. You can even remarket to users who showed interest in your products or services by showing them ads that will pique their interest even further.
