Website Design Frequently Asked Questions

At Strottner Designs, we have a number of website packages, designed to accommodate a variety of budgets. We’ve found that these packages will be sufficient for 90% of the website clients we work with. For that other 10%, we can create a custom proposal. Now, custom doesn’t mean expensive, it means tailored to our client’s needs. Contact us today to request a price/services overview or a custom quote.

It does not! Every website we create is custom to the client. We have a very detailed questionnaire that every design client fills out, and we do a significant amount of research on your industry before we get to work.

Each project is unique, and timelines vary. We operate on a First-In, First-Out basis, so when someone is considering working with us, we recommend that they reserve their place in the queue as quickly as possible. Ultimately, on any project, the pace of a project is determined by the client. Logo concepts are typically turned around in 2-3 weeks, websites in 4-5 weeks. The client impacts the overall timeline much input they can provide during the initial stages, they’re availability with feedback, and how soon the content is ready – all this affects the speed of completion. The functionality needs may also play a role – more complex/larger sites or designs will take more time to develop.

Yes, whether it is a business card design, or a 50-page website, once the final invoice is paid, the project belongs to you. We request the ability to share it in our portfolio, as we take pride in our work.

Yes. We believe that WordPress is the best content management system available, and currently around 40% of the websites on the internet use it. It’s very user friendly, flexible, and easy to build upon. We will provide you with a user guide so that you can update the site yourself, or if you engage in one of our Concierge programs, all of your updates will be handled by Strottner Designs.

Absolutely not! We have clients all over the state, the country, and some that are international. It’s an interconnected world, and we welcome the opportunity to provide our services to you, wherever you are located!

You certainly can! We will provide you with a User’s Guide, and we will always be available if you have questions. Alternatively, if you engage us for SEO, Social Media, or any of our Concierge programs, all updates can be handled by your team at Strottner Designs!

Yes, but that is not the terminology we use. Your site will be “responsive.” This means that no matter what device someone uses, it will show up perfectly! Google loves this, and we test the site before we launch it to make sure that it looks good!

For our design projects, we accept 50% at time of contract, and 50% upon final approval. When your final balance is paid, we deliver all files to you digitally for graphic design projects. For website projects, when the final balance is paid, we launch! In the case of Concierge clients, payment is made on a monthly basis.

Quite a bit, actually! Our goal is to take your vision from your head, and put it on paper or on the internet, in the form of a logo, a business card, a website, etc. Your input and feedback are critical, and each of our design packages includes a certain amount of time for feedback and revisions. In the case of websites, we also include a certain amount of time after the website is launched where revisions and edits can be made at no additional charge.

Typically, you will write the content for your site, and we will help you refine it. No one knows your business, your services, and your background better than you do. However, sometimes people just don’t have the time or the desire to sit down and write for themselves. In those cases, we have a copywriter on the team and he’s always looking for something to write!

Hosting is a critical component for your website, it’s a recurring fee that everyone must pay to have their site live on the internet. We offer hosting services, but there is nothing wrong with procuring hosting for yourself.

Yes, there can be. Your website domain is a recurring fee, that can be purchased in different yearly increments. Some clients have us handle this for them, and if we host, often purchase the domain as well. In the case of WordPress, there are plug-ins that provide functionality to the website. Most of the time we can get the affect we want with a free plug-in, but sometimes a premium plug-in is called for. In those cases, it can be a one-time fee, or an annual fee. It just depends.

We’re going to be here for you if you need help! We’ve been doing this for over 20 years and don’t plan to slow down anytime soon. Just email us and we’ll respond right away!

We wish we could say yes to this, but while we control for many factors, there are some we can’t. If your grandmother is still going online using a dial-up model and CRT monitor, zoomed in at 200%, we cannot promise the site will look the way we planned. However, this is a specific, and unlikely, example. Most people, on most devices, using most browsers at 100% zoom, will see your site the way you want them to.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Frequently Asked Questions

SEO, or search engine optimization, is a large number of actions performed both on and off of your website with the ultimate goal of making your site the easiest one for potential customers to find and click on. It’s not necessarily about having a lot of traffic to your site, it’s about having the RIGHT traffic going to your site! We speak about this topic a lot on our Blog.

SEO takes dedicated effort over time, and there are a lot of factors that go into a successful campaign. For a new client, we tell them to expect 6-12 months before they have the placement that they are looking for. Sometimes it happens faster than this, other times it can take longer. The industry you’re in can be a significant factor in how long results take. Proper SEO results are a marathon, not a sprint.

Possibly never. And #1 in Google might not need to be your goal. If your calendar is full of on-line appointments, with a 3-month waitlist, and business is booming, but you aren’t #1 in Google, will you be OK with that? We’ve found that most clients are fine with that scenario. With that said, we can’t guarantee placement. Many of our clients achieve #1 placement for certain keywords, and not for others. It’s great to be #1, it’s better to have the right traffic, and plenty of customers.

Exclusively.

In our experience, the sites that regularly add content on a consistent basis see the best results. The content must be relevant, of course.

A backlink strategy is definitely beneficial. If there are two sites that are built identically, and built well, but one is building backlinks and the other isn’t, the site building backlinks WILL outperform the other site over time.

Unfortunately, we only offer our SEO programs for WordPress sites. We DO offer a WordPress conversion, so contact our team to learn more about that!

What we have seen with clients that stop actively working on their SEO, is that their placement drops. If they were on the first page of Google results, within a few weeks they are no longer found there. This doesn’t always happen, but SEO is an active process and when it is stopped, the benefits also stop.

No, AI will not make SEO experts obsolete. While AI can automate certain tasks, human expertise is essential for creativity, ethical decision-making, and strategic planning.

Small businesses can use AI tools to improve efficiency in data analysis, content generation, and technical SEO, allowing them to focus on other areas of their business.

AI can generate content that is optimized for search engines, but human writers are still needed to add creativity, emotion, and nuance to the content.

Over-reliance on AI can lead to a lack of creativity, potential ethical issues, and missed opportunities for strategic insights that require human judgment.

Businesses should embrace AI tools to enhance their SEO efforts while continuing to invest in human expertise. A balanced approach will yield the best results.

AI will play an increasingly important role in digital marketing, automating routine tasks and providing data-driven insights, but it will work best in collaboration with human experts.
