Our 5-D Design Process

The internal process we undertake for all of our creative work is organized into five “D” phases: Discovery, Development, Design, Decisions and Delivery. We make it our mission to fully understand your business objectives prior to embarking on any creative concepts. With this approach, expectations are met and/or exceeded, and valuable resources — time and money — are not wasted.

STEP 1: Discovery

It all begins with a no-obligation consultation. We’ll give you some background about our company while we learn about you, your business and your goals. We will gather the scope of services that you are expecting from us, and after this meeting, we will provide a written quote. Should the quote be accepted, we will then issue a Project Agreement which outlines the terms including timeframe and client’s responsibilities (such as delivering content and remitting the initial 50% deposit).

STEP 2: Development

This step is critical for the progress of your project. We perform background research, glean information from your questionnaire and learn anything else we can about your business and your competition. We also request data from you (photos, text and other elements) in order to start creating mockups and suggested layouts. This is a very fluid step, and we allow you ample time to provide input.

STEP 3: Design

At this point, we gather all of the information acquired from the previous steps to begin drilled-down design concepts, creating the feel and direction that your brand is ultimately going to take. We develop concept sheets for logos and print work, and we provide preliminary website designs for you to review.

STEP 4: Decisions

As you view the design concepts and web designs from the previous step, you will then provide feedback to us. This is no time to be reticent — it’s the time to be as explicit and descriptive in your opinions of the work. In turn, we will be ready to answer questions, explain our creative choices and help in you the decision-making process.

Most design packages come with two rounds of revisions, so we will be happy to tweak logos, rework wording on a brochure or reorder pictures on a website. We want to be sure that you are pleased with the design and are ready to receive the final product.

STEP 5: Delivery

This is the final step. We email logo files to you in a compressed folder (containing the five basic formats, along with a Style Guide). We also order any requested print pieces for you: business cards, letterhead, brochures and flyers, as well as any other needed collateral. Your new website will also be prepared for final approval and launch. We also use this time to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the process, our company and the final products.
